Four keys that will keep you growing

FOUR KEYS THAT WILL KEEP YOU GROWING

… Be innocent as babies when it comes to evil, but be mature in understanding matters of this kind. (1 Corinthians 14:20 NLT).

Imagine, your house was full of 15, 20 or 40 year old babies, crawling on the floor with a bottle in their mouth that did not know how to talk; and they were all wearing giant diapers because they could not go to the bathroom on their own?

There are spiritual babies in the church that are 20, 30 or 50 years old. Their maturity levels out to an infant because they stopped growing; they conformed to only being “believers”, instead of being disciples.

Here are four keys that will help you grow spiritually.

1. PRAY ON A REGULAR BASIS

Pray at all times. God says to speak to Him in prayer and petition, laying down all your frustrations, weaknesses, anger, family problems, etc.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6 NIV).

2. READ THE BIBLE ON A REGULAR BASIS

This world is dark and harsh. You will need direction to make decisions in your marriage, in the challenges you face at your job or business, at school, in your family life or financially.

When we do not know what decision to make or what path to follow, the Word of God will illuminate all darkness in our pathway.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path (Psalm 119:105 NLT).

3. CONGREGATE WITH YOUR CHURCH ON A REGULAR BASIS and in a smaller group like a House of Peace.

We grow faster when we grow together. When we realize we are not the only ones who go through problems, when we learn how others have made it through, when we pray for one another, when we relieve and listen to one another we are able to become stronger and grow in all areas.

Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25 NIV).

4. SERVE GOD’S FAMILY ON A REGULAR BASIS.

Serve others through a ministry in your church. We have all received at least one gift or ability from God; and it was given to you to benefit the body of Christ and to help others.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach (Romans 12:1, 6-7 NIV).
