NO MORE EXCUSES

… ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’ Luke 14:17-20 NLT

Common excuses that can get in the way of your relationship with God:

1. Possessions.
It’s not bad to have possessions, but it is very counterproductive for those belongings to possess you.

… One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’  Luke 14:18 NLT

2. Materialism.
One of these men, was working so much that he didn’t have time to take care of the things of God.

Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ Luke 14:19 NLT

It is not a sin to have material property, nor to have your own business, but you must not cross the line of the love of money.

Paul said: For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 NLT

3. Selfishness.

Another said, ‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’ Luke 14:20 NLT

Our personal desires are not always aligned to God.
You need to prove the Lord’s will for your life. Your great blessing will only be found in His plans (Jeremiah 29:11).

Think about it:

Which one of these things have disturbed your intimacy with the Heavenly Father?
Have you allowed one of these excuses to divert your true faith?
