PREPARE A ROOM FOR ME
You must keep your hope alive during darkness.
This passage shows Paul’s optimistic mentality, always living by faith; always believing and expecting the best. He asked Philemon to prepare a guest room because he was going to go and visit them. What’s unusual about this request?
In order for you to get this, you need to understand Paul’s circumstances and age as he was writing this. He was not at a five-star hotel, enjoying a barbeque. He was in jail. The Bible says:
… Paul, an old man was now in prison for the sake of Jesus Christ. Philemon 1:8 NLT
“Paul did not allow himself to be depressed, he always lived life expecting the best, because he knew the power of prayer and from prison he said, ‘One more thing—please prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that God will answer your prayers and let me return to you soon’”. Philemon 1:22 NLT
It does not matter what situation you are going though, do not be depressed during this Christmas season; always live expecting the best.
If Paul, being old and in jail was able to talk like this, then you and I can also tell the following new year, “prepare a guest room for me, because the best for my life is coming this next year”.
Think about it:
Is there something that has been depressing you?
What can bring hope to your life like it did for Paul?
