Sacrifices and answers

SACRIFICES AND ANSWERS

Jacob did several things that in return caused his entire family to be blessed. They received a land called, Goshen where they multiplied themselves into millions of inhabitants.

What did Jacob do?

1. He offered sacrifices.
He arrived at a place called Beersheba and there he remembered God, who had blessed his father Isaac.

“… And when he came to Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac” (Genesis 46:1).

You must always remember the Lord with sacrifices of praise, prayer, fasting, offerings and service.

2. He heard God and he responded.

“During the night God spoke to him in a vision. “Jacob! Jacob!” he called. “Here I am,” Jacob replied” (Genesis 46:2).

After offering sacrifices, it seemed like it was easier for him to perceive the Lord’s voice. God continues to speak to you, but very frequently you are too busy to listen to His guidance.
Constantly, everyone is surrounded by the noise and activity that encircles them. Nevertheless, you have to take times of stillness to pray, fast and rest in order to keep serving your local church.
Oddly enough, when you take time to do these things it is easier for you to discern the Father’s will in every decision you make.

3. He received God’s affirmation.

“I am God, the God of your father,” the voice said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation” (Genesis 46:3).

When you pray, God will answer you. When God answers you, you should obey Him. Once you obey Him, you shouldn’t be afraid because He will back you up, He will prosper your family, your health, your finances and your children.

Just as it happened to Israel (Jacob) whatever you do can bless your entire family.

Think about it:

How have your actions blessed your family and those who surround you?
Have you received answers from the Lord? If not, what steps should you take to receive them?
