The Bible produces hope

THE BIBLE PRODUCES HOPE

Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. Romans 15:4 NLT

Do you need something to encourage you this week? Well, read the Bible.

We receive hope when we read God’s promises for our life. The one who is sick activates their faith when they read about hands being laid over the sick and how they’re healed. A family that is struggling with their finances receives hope when they read God’s promise in the Bible that says: He will supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19).

Our faith is strengthened when we see God’s promises come true in our lives. This tells us that if He has been true in the past, then he will again be true to his promises and that the Bible is the truth.

God is not afraid of crises (Matthew 8:24).

We get frightened when we are facing crises. It is natural for a human being to react fearful when they feel like an uncontrollable situation is threatening them.

When the disciples had lost control of the ship, Jesus took advantage of the crisis to rest while the disciples were worried about dying.

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and self-control. Resting is not about falling asleep during a crisis, but about allowing God to give us the wisdom to come out of a situation, which produces rest (Psalm 4:8).

Usually, the news on television brings us discouragement, but the good news in the scriptures are meant to fuel us with faith and hope.

Think about it:
