THE LORD’S CHARGE
Before Jesus ascended into heaven, he entrusted us with the Great Commission. Here, we see that our assignment and responsibility is to take care of the new believers. This charge must be our primary focus, because God’s urgency is the salvation of people.
1. TAKE CARE OF THE NEW BELIEVERS (1 Peter 5:2)
We have to take care of the new believers willingly, not grudgingly nor for what you will get out of it, remembering that the souls come from Him and not from men. Souls must be treated as people not as numbers neither as a selfish “benefit” for the House of Peace, net, or church.
2. SEEK THE BENEFIT OF PEOPLE (1 Peter 5:2)
A person will not be interested in God and your teaching until they know how truly interested you are in them. Our interests shouldn’t be divided but united for the benefit of people, just as the greatest interest in our mission states: to form successful leaders in their spiritual, family, social, and financial life.
3. USE YOUR AUTHORITY WITH WISDOM (1 Peter 5:3)
Our function as HOP leaders is to extend the pastoral care. Our leadership is not like the world’s and it is important to imitate the spiritual parents of the house whom imitate Jesus in order to reach out to others, while revealing God’s heart in the right way.
4. REST KNOWING THAT GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU (1 Peter 5:7)
The Father will not ask us to do more than what we can’t do, the problem is that we burden ourselves with worries, work, and anxiety that have nothing to do with His plan for our lives (1 Peter 5:8).
We learn to rest in God when we let Him use us by letting go of every temporary burden we may be carrying.
Think about it:
What can you do this week to take care of the people God has entrusted you in your family and spiritual family?
