Watch your mouth and use your ears

WATCH YOUR MOUTH AND USE YOUR EARS

“The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22 NLT).

The truth is that prudent people develop the art of listening; while the ruthless and imprudent people talk, talk and talk, and they frequently get into problems because of this. God gave us two ears and one mouth to hear more and speak less.

“The words of the godly are like sterling silver…” (Proverbs 10:20 NLT). The wise refine their conversations by choosing their words carefully in order to speak more essence with less words.

The Bible says, “The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense” (Proverbs 10:21 NLT).

This means that there are people with whom you enjoy talking with, but there are others with whom you are scared to talk to, because they exhaust you with their conversations instead of encouraging you.

There are some people who talk a lot about complaints, criticism, negativity or simply about their “self”, because they like to be the center of attention. You wouldn’t enjoy being with someone like this, right? Then, remember that people at home or at your job don’t enjoy it when you talk like this.

Talk less, and listen more with empathy, and when you speak… make sure to encourage others with your words (including your spouse and children).

“The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense” (Proverbs 10:21 NLT).

Think about it:

Do you consider yourself someone who knows how to listen to others? Why?
Who do you need to listen to more?
