Cry if it’s necessary

CRY IF IT’S NECESSARY

“When David and his men saw the ruins and realized what had happened to their families, they wept until they could weep no more” (1 Samuel 30:3-4 NLT).

The city where David and his family lived had been attacked. The thieves had plundered their land and taken their children and wives captive; and they had burned their houses down. What do you do when you’re before such a disgrace? What do you do when you face such a terrible unexpected situation in your life?

1. The first thing I want you to understand is that it is not bad to cry.
Everything has its time, there’s a time to cry and a time to laugh. When someone is going through a loss, tears will be a normal part of the healing process. David and his men were men of war, but they reached a point where they had to cry.
The Bible shows us that even our Lord Jesus Christ cried when he lost his friend Lazarus (John 11:33-35).
Mourning is a way to start the recovery process after a painful situation like losing a loved one, or losing a parent due to a divorce, or any other kind of emotional or material loss that produces hurt. Thus, it’s okay to cry sometimes.

2. Second, you must determine yourself to act.
Choose not to stay in the mourning. Some people need more time than others to get back up, but be careful not to stay too long in the sadness you’re feeling to the point you become depressed or to the point it causes you to fall into vices that destroy the rest of your family and other areas of your life.
For example, if your mourning becomes chronic depression and you begin to neglect your job, then you will lose it, or you might lose your business that cost you so much work; your family will lose everything and your situation will be worse than before.

David and his men cried intensely, but then they got back up and took heart in the Lord to go and rescue their families.

“David got back everything the Amalekites had taken, and he rescued his two wives. Nothing was missing: small or great, son or daughter, nor anything else that had been taken. David brought everything back. He also recovered all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock…” (1 Samuel 30:18-20 NLT).

The tip today is to cry if you need to, but then get back up. Ask God for strength and keep pursuing the dreams He has given you.

Think about it:

How can you heal the pain you are feeling?
What steps do you need to take to continue moving forward?
