God rewards doing what is right

GOD REWARDS DOING WHAT IS RIGHT

“The Lord rewarded me for doing right; he restored me because of my innocence” (2 Samuel 22:21 NLT).

What does it mean to do what is right? To many people doing what is right means something very different from what the Word of God says. Many think that doing what is right is to do wrong to those who have wronged them, to take vengeance, lying to cover someone or something, to do whatever they want because they “only live once” or to do whatever is more convenient for them no matter the consequences.

However, what is right before the Lord’s eyes will only be discovered in the manual of life, the Bible. What is just, straight and right is achieved when we obey God’s mandates. Obedience brings eternal rewards.

Let’s view six points that define what is right before the Lord:

1. Do not move away from God nor do wrong to people.

“For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I have not turned from my God to follow evil” (2 Samuel 22:22 NLT).

2. Follow His instructions when making decisions in life.

“I have followed all his regulations…” (2 Samuel 22:23 NLT).

3. Cling unto the Lord’s commandments. His words are wiser than mine and yours, this is why it benefits us to obey His commandments.

“… I have never abandoned his decrees…” (2 Samuel 22:23 NLT).

4. Have a clear conscious. We cannot be perfect, but we can be honest and have a conscious that is at peace. This is accomplished when we do not hide our defects, but instead confess them in order to correct them.

“… I am blameless before God…” (2 Samuel 22:24 NLT).

5. Resist temptation. We cannot stop birds from flying over our heads, but we can stop them from building nests on our heads. We cannot avoid temptation, but we can avoid falling into temptation. Stay away from people or places that will cause you to fall.

 “… I have kept myself from sin…” (2 Samuel 22:24 NLT).

6.  Rewards and prosperity in life are revealed when the blessing of God is with us. This also means that our obedience has pleased the Lord and that we are doing what is right before Him.

“The Lord rewarded me for doing right…” (2 Samuel 22:25 NLT).

The result of doing what is right is receiving the earthly rewards and above all the heavenly ones. If we are obeying His commandments, we don’t have to question if what we’re doing is right, because righteousness is to live in obedience to the Heavenly Father.

Think about it:

How do you know you’re doing what is right?
What step do you need to take to see the blessing of God in your life?
