Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing” (1 Peter 3:8-9 NIV).
It is inevitable for us human beings to go through hardships, painful situations, sickness or loss. How will we prepare to face these difficult moments? How will we face the death of loss of a loved one? Well, we were not designed to be along or isolated, therefore, we need the support of our friends, family and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing” (1 Thessalonians 5:11NIV).
We don’t only support each other during crises, but also as a team. We are a body, a family and the Lord’s Army. The work of the ministry is too much for an individual. Our efforts produce more fruit when we work as a team. In order to bring a new believer to church and help him or her go forward during tough times, we need to work as a community and come close to God’s family to help him or her get through it.
Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many (1 Corinthians 12:14NIV).
Another reason as to why the Heavenly Father made us to live in community is so that we help each other grow. When one of us is going through a test, our friend, family member or brother can help sharpen our faith.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17 NIV).
God’s plan for every person is not to walk alone in life, but rather share and receive care as a community. A community is the God’s answer to desperation. We were made to share our lives with others! This is why we seek to win souls and make disciples, and it helps us fulfill our purpose on earth.
Think about it:
How can you support someone who is going through a hard time in this moment?
