Give God credit

GIVE GOD CREDIT

“She doesn’t realize it was I who gave her everything she has— the grain, the new wine, the olive oil; I even gave her silver and gold. But she gave all my gifts to Baal” (Hosea 2:8 NLT).

Though this verse is referring to the people of Israel, I believe we can also apply it to the people in general today.

Sometimes we forget to give God credit for who we are and for what we have. We take lightly the fact that we are so blessed, that we have health, that we live in a comfortable home and have more food than we can eat, that we are wealthier than ninety percent of the inhabitants in the world, that we go to a beautiful temple and have a spiritual family, and that we do not have to worry about an atheist government trying to incarcerate us for having meetings in our Houses of Peace.

“She doesn’t realize it was I who gave her everything she has— the grain, the new wine, the olive oil; I even gave her silver and gold. But she gave all my gifts to Baal” (Hosea 2:8 NLT).

I invite you today to thank God for the little things that we sometimes overlook. Stop for a moment, sit down or kneel and take a few minutes to meditate. Look at your surroundings, look at the precious people and the things that sometimes go unnoticed, since they have become part of the routine and daily panorama. Be thankful; put God first.

Who I am, God made me; what I have, God gave me; where I am, God brought me, and where I am going, God is taking me. Keep your feet on the ground and give the Lord of lords and King of kings the credit.

Think about it:

Why do you think it is important to give God credit?
Why is it helpful for you to remember who deserves the credit?
