He simply did what god told him to

HE SIMPLY DID WHAT GOD TOLD HIM TO

“So, Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook” (1 Kings 17:5-6 NLT).

Usually, the Lord is going to tell you to do something that doesn’t make sense or that seems weird, but it doesn’t matter how weird it is just obey; because He is testing you to see how much He can trust you. Elijah did what most people would never do, therefore, he received what most people would almost never receive. What does this tell you? When God asks you to do something unusual, it is because He wants to bless you in an unusual way.

Let’s breakdown the previous verse. Imagine this scripture as a movie:

Scene 1: It was a time of shortage and crisis in the nation. Elijah went camping because God told him that He had given orders to someone so that they would bring him roasted meat. Everything is so far so good.

Scene 2: What would you think, if you saw someone in the park talking to the birds and telling them to bring fillets from the supermarket? Maybe you’d say, “this crazy guy has lost his mind”.

Scene 3: Even worse, what if you saw giant ravens dressed as kind waiters at a fancy restaurant serving you some steak? In such a case you’d probably say, “Is what I’m seeing true or am I just going crazy”? I think we’d all say the same thing, too.

Well, that’s how God is. You just have to follow His instructions and you’ll see how He will bless you in ways you never imagined. He will reward you even if He must do something that seems illogical or unnatural to people. If you obey, even the craziest commands, He will reward you because He is supernatural.

Then the Lord said to Elijah:

“Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook… and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food” (1 Kings 17:2-4 NLT).

Think about it:

What decisions have you been afraid to make?
In which situation of your life do you need to trust in the instructions the Bible gives you?
