Develop the habit of consulting with God

DEVELOP THE HABIT OF CONSULTING WITH GOD

“… David asked God, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied, “Yes, go ahead. I will hand them over to you” (1 Chronicles 14:10 NLT).

David was a very successful king because he was a leader who consulted with God before making any important decisions. He was not hard headed nor did he do whatever he wanted to do, instead he sought God’s will.

Many times, we make quick decisions and these kinds of decisions do not produce good results. When we do not know how to consult with God before making important decisions, we run a higher risk of things not coming out the way we want them to.

We must learn to trust in God more than in our emotions. It is good to consult with His Word when it comes to important issues that affect our life. It is good to come to Him in prayer with questions like: Who will I marry? Should I move to another city? Should I change my job? Is it beneficial for me to invest in this business? Should I buy a car or pay these vacations with a credit card?

Consult with God before consulting with your emotions. Do not let yourself be overtaken by sadness, happiness, or rage, since these feelings might cause you to make the wrong decisions. Consult with God in prayer, read His Word and you will have greater chances of being successful in everything you do.

“So, David asked God, “Should I go out to fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord replied, “Yes, go ahead. I will hand them over to you.” So, David and his troops went up to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “God did it!” David exclaimed…” (1 Chronicles 14:10-11 NLT).

Think about it:

In which areas of your life do you need to consult with God?
Usually, who or what do you consult before making important decisions?
