God is in your house

GOD IS IN YOUR HOUSE

“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!”  But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!” (Genesis 28:16-17 NLT).

Many come to the house of the Lord, but they don’t realize that God is in the house. People come to church failing to recognize the owner, God. Others come to church thinking it’s their friend’s house, therefore they don’t receive the Heavenly Father’s benefits and blessings.

You see, there is power when we are aware of God’s presence. He is omnipresent, He is everywhere at the same time, He is the life and air in our lungs. Even during the times we feel far from Him, He is always close. In fact, He is closer than the skin on our bodies, because He is the essence of life.

When God made man He breathed life into him, meaning, He breathed His spirit into him. This is why we cannot be separated from His presence. However, the problem is not that God isn’t present, the problem is that we have failed to be aware of Him.

When we are aware of God in the church, then we worship Him understanding that He is literally in front of us, though we can’t physically see Him. When we are aware that He is in our homes, jobs, school and even in our own rooms, then we are able to worship Him with understanding.

Acknowledging God in our life will cause us to have a lifestyle of worship, and we won’t be able to contain the desire to worship wherever we go. Can you imagine what life was like for Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden? The Bible says they would see, talk and walk with God. I imagine that they would explode with worship toward Him all the time.

In the same way, I encourage you to close your eyes today, breathe in deeply and notice that God is with you. Turn your affection, your focus, and your worship toward Him and you will see that the blessing of God will be manifested in your life. You will see how the promises He made you will be accelerated, because where the presence of God is there is freedom, there is abundance, and there is fullness of joy.

Think about it:

How do you welcome the Lord when you come to church?
What will you do today to keep yourself aware of God’s presence in your life?
