STRENGTHEN YOUR STAKES AND BE ENLARGED
“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes” (Isaiah 54:2 NIV).
Notice the words in this verse: “enlarge”, “stretch”, “lengthen”, and “strengthen”.
The first thing we see in this passage is that God is encouraging us to be enlarged and to be stretched. To me this talks about our vision in life, about not settling for less nor having an “arrival” mentality, but instead to continue dreaming and living as if it were the last day of our lives.
Most people stop dreaming, even the young people, because their problems have overwhelmed them, such as a past failure that has traumatized them or because they are afraid of failing again in their studies, business or marriage.
However, God is telling you to keep dreaming, to try again, that you “stretch your tent curtains wide”. For when a vision comes from God, He will provide for that vision.
The second thing this verse talks about is to be strengthened in order to grow. Perhaps we won’t achieve our goals at the first try, but that doesn’t mean that we are failures. We can fail over and over again, but the fact that we continue to try and believe we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength, we automatically become winners.
The only one who fails is the one who chooses not to get back up. Keep strengthening yourself and do not allow the temporary problems to divert your eternal purpose. Choose to listen to God’s positive voice which encourages you and tells you, “try again… let your nets down”, because He will make your circumstances work for good so that you will be enlarged.
Think about it:
What are you seeing for your life? What needs to be enlarged in your vision?
What project or task did you leave half way done? How can you strengthen yourself to finish that which you left half way done?
