The power of a father’s prayer

THE POWER OF A FATHER’S PRAYER

Imagine you are watching a Hollywood movie that starts off with a father praying before passing away…

We all know who Solomon was, he was a wise young man that not only was successful and wealthy during his life time, but he was also the king who built an impressive temple for God. However, all this started with a prayer.

SCENE ONE: A father’s request and blessing.

“Give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything necessary to build this Temple, for which I have made these preparations” (1 Chronicles 29:19 NLT).

SCENE TWO: After the father died, God appeared to the son (Solomon) and he had the once in a lifetime chance to ask whatever he wanted. Look at what the Bible says:

“That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, “Ask for whatever you want me to give you” (2 Chronicles 1:7 NIV).

Solomon had heard his father David pray for him before and he knew very well what was the most valuable thing he could ask God for, so he asked Him, “Give me wisdom and knowledge”.

SCENE THREE: The prayer a father made years ago is now fulfilled, and his expectations are surpassed.

“God said to Solomon, ‘Because… you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame… but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge… I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!’” (2 Chronicles 1:11-12 NLT)
.

Solomon had a wonderful ending, because it was successful and full of God’s blessing; but remember all this began with a father’s prayer.

“Give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything necessary to build this Temple, for which I have made these preparations” (1 Chronicles 29:19 NLT).

Think about it:

How do you pray for your children? Pray for your children right now just as David did.
If you still don’t have children, then have you ever prayed for your future family and kids? Take the time to pray for them right now.
