The power of praise

THE POWER OF PRAISE

“Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!” (Acts 16:26 NLT).

The Bible tells that when Paul and Silas were singing hymns and declaring how mighty God was that “suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations” (Acts 16:26 NLT). What does “suddenly” mean? It means that the shaking happened all at once, it was a movement and an unexpected impulse from God.

With this in mind, I want you to understand something. Paul and Silas provoked God’s movement through their praise, and this movement shook the prison’s foundations. In other words, their praise shook their reality. When you praise God and declare health, strength, and the opposite of your reality, then supernaturally that is exactly what happens.

What does your praise have the potential to provoke?

1. Your praise provokes God’s movement.
When the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the earth’s surface, He declared order when there wasn’t any order, He declared light where there was no light, He declared fruit and fertility even though the earth was stagnant and barren. Thus, what He said literally happened.

We too, have power in our mouths. When we sing and proclaim God’s promises and great works, He responds with a yes and amen, and suddenly the wonders we are declaring are provoked in our lives through our praise.

2. Your praise brings freedom.
The Word of God says:

“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17 NLT).

The Bible also says that God:

“… inhabits the praises of Israel (His people)” (Psalm 22:3 KJV).

When you praise the Heavenly Father as a son or daughter, then His presence falls and sets you free, and because His presence falls, the chains that were binding or enslaving you also fall. Thus, you are all at once set free.

“Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!” (Acts 16:26 NLT).

Think about it:

What have you been complaining about lately? Start to declare the opposite as you praise God.
In which area of your life you do need freedom? What chains need to all at once fall off?
