WORSHIPPERS IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH
We have been called to worship God, to live in reverence, admiration, love and surrender before Him. In other words, worship is a continuous lifestyle. The previous verse says that true worshippers exist, which also means that there are false worshippers. There are people who come to church, but they don’t come to worship, instead they come to see the guy or girl they like, but not to see God.
The reality is that there are many obstacles that do not allow us to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, and while we are in this world we will continue to have these distractions. However, when you have the revelation that God is your Creator, when you have finally been able to see His face in intimacy, there is no one and nothing that can distract you.
There is a war against gods who want to steal our worship toward the only and true God. What am I referring to when I say gods? I am referring to things, situations, people, problems, projects, etc. who want to take God’s first place in our minds and hearts. This is a daily war, there will always be something that will want to rob our attention from the Lord, but we must keep our eyes set on Him who is eternal.
Nowadays, there are obstacles like materialism, which causes people to spend their life working and working, not resting, because they’re fanatics when it comes to making money. Others struggle with the obstacle of not being able to forgive, they have a root of bitterness inside of them that is consuming them and not allowing them to worship the Father in spirit and in truth. Lastly, excessive worry is another huge obstacle in our current time. We worry about everything and many times we are in church, but we’re really not in church, because our minds are thinking about a temporary problem, when our eternal God can bring the solution.
Just as I had mentioned in the beginning, worship means to surrender to God day after day. It is to live dependent of Him and not independent of Him. It is to lay our life at His feet and service. It is to have a true Father and son relationship with Him. He is seeking you, just worship Him in all sincerity.
Think about it:
What are the obstacles that have stopped you from worshipping God in spirit and in truth?
Do you feel like you seek and seek God, yet don’t find Him? Well, how can you worship Him so that He can finally find you?
