Be comforted in God and His word

BE COMFORTED IN GOD AND HIS WORD

“… God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever” (Revelation 21:3-4 NLT).

During times of mourning and grief, who comforts you? Most people try to find comfort in cigars, alcohol or other vices that only enlarge the void in their hearts. Others try to find comfort in their friends or family members, which is fine because we all need support from someone.

However, we need to learn to find comfort in God and in His Word. You might say, “Even if I find refuge in God or His Word that will not return what I have lost”. You’re right, finding comfort in the Lord and His promises will not return your spouse, son or daughter, but it will help you understand that one day you will see them again.

Look at what the Word of the Lord says, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him… Therefore encourage one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:14, 18 NIV).

Unfortunately, just as there exists a heaven, there also exists a hell, but those who have passed away and accepted Christ in their heart have already entered the Lord’s presence. This means that they are in God’s arms full of peace. Yes… you lost a loved one, but the Word assures you that one day you will all be together once again.

“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever” (1 Thessalonians 4:17 NIV).

The day will come when sorrow, death nor crying will be no more, because we will literally be in God’s presence. Mourning and grief is inevitable in this world, but our Lord comforts us when He says that one day we will be with Him and our loved ones.

Be comforted in God and in His Word, because in it you will find the truth that surpasses your reality and your soul will be healed in His infinite love for you and for me.

“… God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever” (Revelation 21:3-4 NLT).

Think about it:

In who or what have you been leaning on?
What promises in the Word of God brings peace to you in this moment?
