Let’s put those who are weak on donkeys

LET’S PUT THOSE WHO ARE WEAK ON DONKEYS

“The four men… distributed clothes from the plunder to the prisoners who were naked. They provided…  sandals to wear, gave them enough food and drink, and dressed their wounds with olive oil. They put those who were weak on donkeys and took all the prisoners back to their own people in Jericho…” (2 Chronicles 28:15 NLT).

God has called us to be restorer of families. In such a cruel society, there is a need for people who are like these four men that are willing to heal the wounded and free those who are held captive in vices and destructive habits.

These men did four acts that we too must do with people:

1. They gave them clothes and sandals to wear. The covered their shame and nakedness so that they could walk with dignity in life once again.

“… distributed clothes from the plunder to the prisoners who were naked. They provided…  sandals to wear…” (2 Chronicles 28:15 NLT).

2. They gave them food and drink to help them continue going forward and to recover strength to fight for their dreams and families.

“… they gave them enough food and drink…” (2 Chronicles 28:15 NLT).

3. They dressed their wounds with olive oil. People that are hurt, hurt other people, they die along the way and they do not reach their dreams. These prisoners could have died along the way, because there’s no point in setting someone free if they are not healed first.

“…. they dressed their wounds with olive oil…” (2 Chronicles 28:15 NLT).

4. They put those who were weak on donkeys. There are people who need extra help and extra grace, for they are too weak because of the wounds they’ve experienced in life.

“… They put those who were weak on donkeys…” (2 Chronicles 28:15 NLT).

5. They restored their families. They took the prisoners back to their lands where their homes, wives, children, and relatives were. You see, we are called to be restorers of families.

“… they took all the prisoners back to their own people in Jericho” (2 Chronicles 28:15 NLT).

Our lives have been destined to continue the love story Jesus began on the cross of Calvary. We cannot conform to being like our current society when it comes to helping the less fortunate. God is counting on us to grow in love, heal the sick and set the captive free. We are restorers of families!

Think about it:

Who comes to your mind when your think about someone who needs extra help?
What can you do to help heal that person you know is heartbroken today?
