Let’s work to bring peace in our circle

LET’S WORK TO BRING PEACE IN OUR CIRCLE

“And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare” (Jeremiah 29:7 NLT).

While being at a conference I heard the following truth, “Everyone wins when a leader gets better” (Bill Hybels). The entire city wins when its inhabitants are willing to be “contributors” instead of “takers”, when everyone becomes producers instead of consumers.

We must first ask ourselves, “What can I do to improve my city?” before demanding, “What can my city do to better my welfare?”. We shouldn’t wait on someone else to move and make positive changes in our circle, instead we must move to help make the necessary changes.

If we improve our leadership in our families, then we will improve our society. If we improve our society, then we will improve our city, and if we improve our city, we will improve our country and make a global difference. Everything starts with bettering your leadership.

Bringing peace to our circle is all about having the right attitude. Most people are always thinking about “taking” from something in exchange for a benefit when we should remember that we were put in this world to “contribute” value unto those who surround us at home, work or any other place in our city.

Lord, show me what I can contribute today so that my city and church can be a better place to live in and an excellent place for my children in the future. Help me be a leader who empowers other leaders to bring positive changes to my city.

“And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare” (Jeremiah 29:7 NLT).

Think about it:

How can you improve your leadership at home?
What positive changes would you like to see in your city and what can you do to help?
