Moses and Aaron before the Pharaoh

Moses and Aaron before the Pharaoh

Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the wilderness.’” Exodus 5:1

Before the Jewish people were freed from Egypt, they found themselves in terrible conditions of slavery and they prayed to God for a savior to free them.

When Moses returned to Egypt after his exile and ordered Pharaoh to set his people free, as the verse says, Pharaoh became so mad he increased the workload of the slaves.

The people were not at all happy. In fact, they became angry with Moses for provoking the anger of the Pharaoh. Even so, God wanted all the people to celebrate in the desert.

I believe in a situation that difficult the Jews did not feel like celebrating. They probably wanted to escape slavery and reach the promised land. Perhaps then they would have something to celebrate. Is it not like this?

But the plans of God are always different, His order is not our order. God wanted them to first celebrate Him before taking them to the promised land. He wanted to test their fidelity and then He would give them the promise.

It could be that you find yourself in a similar situation and experiencing a difficult moment like the Jewish slaves. It could be that you don’t have energy to celebrate anything. God told us this week through the prophet David Navarro that just as the Jewish people our promised land comes after celebrating God in our desert.

The prophet said, “God has not given you what He has promised because you have not learned to celebrate in your desert.”

Sometimes the person asks themselves why God does not answer their petitions while they serve, pray, and have faith. They ask themselves if they have more to do. The response can be found with another question. Have you honored God by placing happiness in your heart even through a difficult moment, or are you waiting to be happy as soon as you receive what you were hoping for? In other words, are you living bitterly or living happily?

If you are waiting to be happy till God responds your prayers and fulfills your promises, you are in the wrong order for God. First celebrate, worship, and be happy. Then, you will see your blessing. On the other hand, you could lose the rest of your blessings that have not reached your life yet.

Remember what it says in Habakkuk 3:17-18

Though the fig tree does not budand there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop failsand the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the penand no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.

Think About It

Is there a time you have refused to celebrate due to a bad experience?
Are you willing to show your best to the Lord and celebrate in your heart even in difficultAnchor moments?
