Remember God’s promises

REMEMBER GOD’S PROMISES

“As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake” (Mark 4:35 NLT).

We will always experience storms in our life as long as we continue to live on planet earth. We will find ourselves in situations that we don’t want to be in. We will go through circumstances that will push us to cross from a difficult place in our life to the other side where God’s purpose is.

What does it mean to cross to the other side of the lake? This phrase is a promise from God to us. It means to transition or pass from a period of suffering into a time of victory. It means to move in the direction God’s winds are blowing for our families, marriages, children and lives in general.

The hurricanes we go through are many times caused by the enemy’s opposite winds, because he doesn’t want us to fulfill the Lord’s mission. However, we must remember that we are only going through the storm, it is not our final destiny.

Jesus told his disciples with firmness and assurance, “… Let’s cross to the other side of the lake” (Mark 4:35 NLT). He did not say, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake and see what happens”. He didn’t say, “If you guys want you can cross to the other side of the lake with me and I’ll see if I make you fisher of men”. No! The Lord Jesus Christ knew that together with his disciples they would cross to the other side of the lake because the Heavenly Father’s promise was on the other side.

The Bible says that on the other side of the lake was the region of the Gerasenes, which was the place where there was a demon possessed man that lived in the cemetery. Jesus knew that it was part of his purpose to go deliver and heal that man, because that man was going to be a living testimony who would win many souls for the Kingdom of Heaven.

“So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them” (Mark 5:20 NLT).

It is time to cross to the other side of the lake. You are not alone on the boat, Jesus himself is with you and he will calm the storms on the way to your final destiny. Remember the promises He gave you during the storm. This will help you not stay half way, but reach the full promise of God for your life. Do not be afraid, cross over.

“As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake” (Mark 4:35 NLT).

Think about it:

What promises has God made you?
What lake do you need to cross during this storm you are currently going through?
