Remember your purpose

REMEMBER YOUR PURPOSE

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).

When you go through storms in your life, remember your purpose on earth. God has promised us in His Word that He has good plans for us. Even though we go through times of calamity, it doesn’t mean that we will stay in them. Instead, we will get through them because there is a purpose behind every storm we face.

You are not an accident. God planned you before the foundation of the earth. He knew why He created you, He planned the day you would be born and He knows the day you will pass on to heaven. Do you know why Jesus rested in the middle of the storm? Jesus Christ was able to sleep in the midst of the storm because he knew that he wasn’t going to drown.

What am I trying to tell you? That Jesus Himself did not lose faith when he was on the boat with his disciples, because he knew what was his purpose in life. He knew that he wasn’t going to die drowning, but that he was going to die crucified on the cross of Calvary; so that everyone who believed in him would restore their relationship with the Heavenly Father and have eternal life.

When you know your purpose in life, nothing intimidates you. You know that you will not die before fulfilling your purpose. When you know your purpose, you don’t focus on the obstacles that stop you from crossing the line, instead you focus on whatever you need to do in order to cross to the other side where God’s promise is.

“When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39 NLT).

You cannot give up the moment you face the waves and winds of life, because God has given you the power to silence every storm. The second you invoke the name of Jesus there is a supernatural power that surpasses your current reality, releasing God’s reality for your life. Thus, the storms submit to you.

Therefore, when you are going through the storms of life, remember your purpose on earth, because you are not an accident. God made you on purpose. You will not die before completing your purpose, you will live until you see its fulfillment.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).

Think about it:

What is your purpose in life?
What waves have been intimidating you lately?
What storm do you need to silence today?
