Times of stillness

TIMES OF STILLNESS

“But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” (2 Chronicles 20:17 NLT).

Stop fighting by yourself. There are situations in which our strength is not enough and our ideas do not flow with the same clarity. It’s during these moments that we need to take a time of stillness to listen to God’s voice and clear direction.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT).

Don’t depend on your own knowledge neither ignore what you might be feeling right now during the situation you are going through. It’s better to give yourself the chance to rest and express what you are feeling while you rest in the Lord.

God doesn’t get tired of listening to you nor spending time with you. He wants you to take the time to rest so that you can listen to Him speak to you. Many times we say, “Speak to me Father” but we can’t hear Him because the turmoil inside of us stop us from hearing the Father.

You need to give yourself the chance to lament and unplug before God; it’s not bad to do this, it is necessary. The primary source of rest that you need comes from the Heavenly Father. Therefore, do not try to appear to be self-sufficient, instead let God fight for you while you rest in His stillness.

“But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory…” (2 Chronicles 20:17 NLT).

Think about it:

What feelings or thoughts have you been ignoring that you need to bring before God?
How long has it been that you don’t take a time of stillness with your Heavenly Father?
