Don’t confuse your shield

DON’T CONFUSE YOUR SHIELD

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him” (Psalm 28:7 NIV).

We have lost our protection, deportations have started, we need to hide!

This is what we hear in the news regarding the administrative decision president Donald Trump made to end the DACA program for young people known as DREAMERS.

We are in an environment of uncertainty full of news that incites restlessness, we are at risk of falling into this trap, because many of us are afraid and are panicking.

However, we cannot lose sight of the fact that our protection is not found in a law or mandate. Yes, we need to be good citizens who respect the laws and authorities, but we cannot lose sight of the protection that can only be found in our Lord Jesus Christ, because just as this passage says, He is “… my strength and my shield…” (Psalm 28:7 NIV).

It is true that we will experience storms, which are designed by the enemy with the purpose to hinder God’s purpose for our life. Nevertheless, we cannot forget that in the middle of the stormour life and our children are in the Lord’s hands, therefore, the situation you are facing will work as a means for God to bless you.

Before allowing the news to cause fear in you, take the time to slowly read the government notifications because they usually have more information. Analyze your options and gather with your family to calmly talk about the topic.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV).

If you are a DREAMER or your sons or daughters are, listen to this word and do not confuse your shield. In other words, remember that the protection you need in your life will not be given to you by a law, instead God is the One who gives you that protection. Do not be troubled, allow the Heavenly Father to instill the peace that surpasses all understanding both now and during all times of uncertainty.

Think about it:

How can you help others around you to not live in fear during times of uncertainty?
What steps can you take today to access the peace which surpasses all understanding?
