God’s hand

GOD’S HAND

“This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses… He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for because the gracious hand of the Lord his God was on him” (Ezra 7:6 NLT).

I see two interesting things about prophet Ezra in this passage that we can apply to our own life.

1. He knew the Bible.
He was a person who had given himself to the study of the Scriptures that was available in those times, which was “the Law of Moses”.

The Bible says, “This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given to the people of Israel…” (Ezra 7:6 NLT).

The knowledge that he acquired regarding God’s instruction to His people was what enabled him to be a great prophet and leader who would be used by God to lead His people during great projects.

Knowing the Scriptures makes you a better leader, husband, father, son, worker,or entrepreneur because the Bible isthe manual of life that gives us the wisdom to be successful in all areas.

2. He had God’s favor before the authorities.
The fact he knew God’s Word shows that he also feared the Lord, respected His commandments and lived with high moral values.

The Bible says, “… He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for…” (Ezra 7:6 NLT).

God gave him favor with the governors and this is why the king gave him everything he asked for, including large quantities of gold and silver when he came from Babylon to the city of Jerusalem with the intention to restore order and service in God’s temple.

When you and I know God’s Word and we obey it, His gracious hand will be upon us, and He will give us favor and huge blessings because He knows that we will use them to do His will.

“This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses… He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for, because the gracious hand of the Lord his God was on him” (Ezra 7:6 NLT).

Think about it:

What qualities that belonged to prophet Ezra, do you need to adopt to see God’s hand in your life?
What does it mean to fear God to you? How do you know you fear Him?
