Why does God allow enemies in our life?

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW ENEMIES IN OUR LIFE?

“The Lord had allowed those nations to remain; he did not drive them out at once by giving them into the hands of Joshua” (Judges 2:23 NIV).

God gave the people of Israel the victory over their enemies in order to possess the promised land. They conquered most of the cities they would go to, however, there were some territories they were unable to overcome, which is a little strange, don’t you think?

We will all have battles, problems, and challenges that God doesn’t completely remove from our lives. The question is, why? Why doesn’t He just wipe out all our problems so we can be at peace? The answer is found in Judges 3:1-4.

“These are the nations the Lord left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan (he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience): the five rulers of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites living in the Lebanon mountains from Mount Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath. They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the Lord’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses” (Judges 3:1-4).

The Lord left certain nations in the land to:

Test them: There are people, situations or losses that God allows in our lives to test us and help us mature. Every hardship we face isn’t always negative, we must learn to overcome those tests with the right attitude, while remaining full of faith knowing God is in control.

Teach them show to fight in war: something we have to understand is that we will have battles and enemies to defeat in our lives, and God wants to use them to make us stronger, braver and more exerted. If there are no enemies to defeat then there are not battles to fight, which are necessary because God uses obstacles and storms to confront our faith.

God knows all our battles; He knows about the people who mock us, criticize us or betray us. He knows about our economical shortage and health problems. God does not ignore any of this, but He does allow it until we pass the testing of our faith, until we learn to overcome our enemies, and until we learn to obey His Word.

“The Lord had allowed those nations to remain; he did not drive them out at once by giving them into the hands of Joshua” (Judges 2:23 NIV).

Think about it:

Why does God allow enemies to come our way?
Why doesn’t God wipe out all our problems?
What enemy or problem have you not been able to defeat in your life? What has stopped you from overcoming them?
