Cry, but forgive

CRY, BUT FORGIVE

“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6 NIV).

We are in a time of restoration in the city of Las Vegas. People have been mourning while others feel angry. This is why today I want to tell you to cry if you have to, but also forgive.

Most people cry because they have allowed themselves to be full of bitterness, but they don’t cry to release their frustration and the pain in order to heal their souls. It is very important for us to be people who are quick to forgive so that we guard our hearts.

Forgiveness is not a feeling, it’s simply a decision that we will all have to make one day in order to take care of our souls. Many think that forgiveness is to say, “It’s okay, I forgive you; I don’t feel pain anymore. I am not angry anymore, we’re good”.

It is a fact that after being hurt we are going to feel angry, pain, and demand justice; but these feelings should not stop us from forgiving and letting go. Remember that in this world, there exists a cycle of unforgiveness, and this is why many hurt one another, for they don’t want to forgive.

You and I are the trail-blazers that are breakingwith this cycle, and we are doing this through the forgiveness we’ve received in Jesus Christ. We cannot let the devil accomplish his objective. His objective is for us to hate each other and be angry with one another because of our skin color or nationality; he wants the Church of Crist to live divided, he wants the world to rampage and destroy one another.

We cannot allow the roots of bitterness to rob us of God’s peace. WithoutGod there is no peace nor safety, but if we are with Him, then we will have His peace and His protection.

Cry, but forgive. The state of your heart determines the state of your city. Do not make way for bitterness, God is not the author of evil, but because evil exists in this fallen world so does bitterness. Let’s guard our hearts and make forgiveness a lifestyle.

“David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6 NIV).

Think about it:

Have you stopped praying?
Who do you need to forgive to continue going forward free from any unnecessary burdens?
