YOU ARE CALLED
Why did Elisha leave behind the oxen and his family? He left all this behind because he was receiving a calling and he was responding to it. Today I want to tell you that there is a specific calling for your life.
There are times in our life when we receive important calls. Perhaps, there was an occasion when you received a call from someone who told you, “Here are the keys to your new house”. Many of us have received important calls that till this day have marked us.
Once Elisha said his goodbyes to his parents, look at what he did after:
The oxen represented his past, in other words he didn’t just say goodbye to his parents, but he went back to kill everything that represented a temptation that would cause him to go back. He wanted to make sure that he only had one option. We cannot serve both God and man, we only have one option, and that is to serve the Lord.
When I say this, I don’t mean that we should be religious nor extremists. Here at Eagles CFC we believe in spiritual, family, social and financial success. However, when God makes a call unto us we need to make sure that we have killed everything that can tempt us to look back.
We have to be sure. The Bible says, “… Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62 NLT).
Maybe you and I no longer plow the land like Elisha did, but we are human beings who work. I am not saying to let go of your job, I am saying that if you have decided to respond to God’s call for your life, you need to let go of everything in your past that can divert you from that call.
Think about it:
What things in your past have been misleading you from God’s call?
Have you been looking back?
