Develop patience!

DEVELOP PATIENCE!

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance” (Romans 5:3 NKJV).

Patience is not handed to us when we ask for it,instead it is an ability that is developed when we are going through tribulations in life. Patience is to have resilience even when things in our life are not going well.

Paul said that we should glory when we go throughproblems, because this will make us patient. Patience is the God-given ability to persevere, suffer, and remain for a long period of time without losing joy nor getting discouraged.

There are many who suffer and say, “I have withstood this suffering for many years” but they really haven’t withstood the suffering, instead they have given into alcohol, drugs, and other addictions to help vent their pain, and that is not what it means to withstand something for a long period of time. People who do this gave up a long time ago and they lost their joy.

A modern defect in people’s character is a lack of consistency, perseverance, andpersistency. Nowadays, people stop serving God and they get discouraged by the problems they experience. Many times, people stop committing to the Lord because of a problem they got themselves into, yet they blame God for it. What is that? We cannot continue to miss the blessings due to our impatience!

The Bible says:

“Dear brothers andsisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So, let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing” (James 1:2-4 NLT).

Obviously, every time we find ourselves in problems we don’t immediately start laughing and thanking God for the problem. It is natural to be disappointed at first, but the point is to have the right attitude when we face adversity.

We must give ourselves the opportunity to growin consistency in order to mature and be complete. Keep asking God for patience, that’s okay, just know that patience will not be handed to you, instead He will give you the opportunity to exercise patience through the tribulations you experience. Come on, let your endurance grow!

Think about it:

Have you been exercising your patience?
What tribulation or problem have you been going through that you need to take advantage of in order to grow in endurance?
