RULERS OF HIS PEOPLE
-“I”
Who is speaking? “I” is referring to God.
-“took you”
What did He do? “Took you” means to take David from a place.
-“from tending the flock”
Where did He call him from? “From tending the flock” this refers to a position that was invisible; it was not a place of leadership or influence. Being behind the sheep was not the maximum success.
-“and appointed you”
What was the objective? The phrase “and appointed you” talks about transformation in a person who was nobody and who comes out of the anonymity.
-“ruler over”
Who did God want Him to be? “Ruler” this talks about a valuable identity, a radical change in someone’s life. “Over” refers to being on top, in higher levels of influence and leadership to guide and help other people.
-“my people”
What group would he lead? The word “my” shows how the Lord trusted us with something that does not belong to us; which is His people, His church, His money and our life. This means that our own life is not really our life, our money is not our money, our time is not our time, our disciples are not really our disciples, etc.
God brought us out of different situations, He put us in influential places and has trusted us with what He loves the most: His people, His church, His family.
Think about it:
Have you ever thought about this or valued it?
Where did God bring you out of? Have you considered, why God rescued you and brought you out of where you were?
Are you accomplishing God’s purpose for your life?
