HUMILITY
Humility is not to think less of yourself, instead it is to think less about yourself. It is in our sinful nature to satisfy our ego and seek out what benefits us instead of what is best for others and what pleases God.
One of the things that God hates the most are haughty eyes. The Bible says:
Pride is the only spirit the Bible says that God Himself resists. God fights against the spirit of arrogance because it goes against His character of humility. The Bible says He opposes those who are prideful, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6 NLT).
Therefore, we can only develop humility with the Holy Spirit’s help, because humility is a fruit of the Spirit of God. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (humility), and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT).
Humility leads us to depend on God and not to be self-sufficient. Humility takes us to have an intimacy with the Heavenly Father, and to understand that we cannot live without Him. Our trust should not be placed in our own strength nor our own human wisdom, instead our trust must be placed in the Lord’s might.
God’s Word says:
In this day of faith for your day, I exhort you to develop a genuine intimacy with God and to ask the Holy Spirit to help you be humble so that you have His support in everything you do.
Think about it:
In who or what do you depend on every day?
How can you begin to develop humility?
