Call things as God calls them

CALL THINGS AS GOD CALLS THEM

Rachel was about to die, but with her last breath, she named the baby Ben-oni (which means “son of my sorrow”). The baby’s father, however, called him Benjamin (which means “son of my right hand”) (Genesis 35:18 NLT).

We must watch our words because the way we speak can destroy or edify our faith and encourages or discourages others close to us.

“The tongue can bring death or life;    those who love to talk will reap the consequences” (Prov. 18:21).

Jacob didn’t want his son to remember throughout his life that his mother died when he was born bringing sadness to the family, so he changed his name and called him “son of my right hand”. He hoped that every time he was called by his name, he would be reminded that he was important and that he would grow to be big. He saw it by faith and that’s how he called him.

Let’s call things by faith as they can be, as they should be, and as God does. (Even if they aren’t yet). “(God) who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not” (Romans 4:17 NIV)
