From vessel to vessel

FROM VESSEL TO VESSEL

“Moab has been at ease from his youth; he has settled on his dregs, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, nor has he gone into captivity. Therefore, his taste remained in him, and his scent has not changed” (Jeremiah 48:11 NKJV).

I do not drink wine nor am I someone who knows about wine, but according to the verse above, when wine is at ease and it is not emptied from recipient to recipient (vessel, jar, vat) then it maintains the same flavor and smell.

The wine represents our life and the person who is settled represents the wine that has not suffered a change in their way of thinking. These are the people who are at ease and stagnant, the ones who haven’t achieved anything significant, the ones who do not dare to come out of their original vessel (their comfort zone).

On the other hand, there are those who have suffered in life because they have been emptied from vessel to vessel. Every vessel represents a big problem or challenge in your life. The people that are emptied from vessel to vessel change every time they get up from a crisis, and they become better people.

Just as the flavor and smell of the wine changes when it is emptied from recipient to recipient, peoples’ flavor change when they overcome problem after problem in their life. Their “flavor and smell” is different, they are more compassionate, they know how to be humble, they understand other peoples’ pain, and they smell like God’s love. Their flavor is no longer bitter like rancid wine because when they have suffered deception, betrayal, and pain, they didn’t become bitter people, instead they became better people.

Those who have been emptied from vessel to vessel—and have not become discouraged— are the ones who have refused to complain about the pain and stay comfortable. These people have understood that for those who love God, all things work for their good (Romans 8:28).

“Moab has been at ease from his youth; he has settled on his dregs, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, nor has he gone into captivity. Therefore, his taste remained in him, and his scent has not changed” (Jeremiah 48:11 NKJV).

Think about it:
What do you smell like today?
What good thing can you take out of the challenges you are facing today?
