Do things out of your own conviction

DO THINGS OUT OF YOUR OWN CONVICTION

So Pilate sentenced Jesus to die as they demanded. (Luke 23:24 NLT)

Pilate gave in to the pressure of the people, although he knew in his heart that killing Jesus was wrong.

It is very likely that he didn’t want to jeopardize his popularity or cause a revolt in the government. So, he preferred to jeopardize the truth in exchange for popularity, fame, and power.

In our present-day society, it is also very common to see people jeopardize their values, principles, and truths in exchange for economic benefit.

Absolute power corrupts man. All of us who have been empowered to a position of leadership also need to be accountable to somebody else.

Lord, help me to do your will even when it isn’t popular and when there is pressure from others to do the contrary. I want to please you.

It is necessary for us to be in communion with God, praying and reading his Word so that we can align with his Will, not give in to other’s pressure, and decide to please God above anything else.

So Pilate sentenced Jesus to die as they demanded. (Luke 23:24 NLT)

Think about it:

What values govern your life?

What have people asked you to do that jeopardizes your values?

Who are you accountable to?

What will you do to please God before men?
