Let’s evaluate and come to our senses

LET’S EVALUATE AND COME TO OUR SENSES

“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you” (Luke 15:17-18 NLT)

By evaluating ourselves, we are led to reflection, and by reflecting, we come to our senses and thus, regain our focus.

Let’s take some time to evaluate how close we have been to our Heavenly Father. What areas of my life do I need to refocus?

When we take time to evaluate our lives, we come to our senses and can finally regain our focus for our upcoming years.

It is very easy to lose sight of the true purpose we said we wanted to live in.

We tend to lose focus due to problems, daily pressures, brutal competition that exists between human beings and personal crises. However, blessings can also deviate our focus.

This prodigal son did not get lose due to problems or poverty, but because of the abundance of riches he had and lack of character. But, when he took time to evaluate his situation, to reflect on how he had been acting the past few months, he was able to once again place order in his life and correct his lifestyle to come back to his father and not lose the bright future God had for him.

“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you” (Luke 15:17-18 NLT)

In this year, align yourself with God through prayer so he can show you his purpose and you can walk with him without straying.

Think about it:

Do you clearly know why you want to live? Is it because that’s what God wants you to live for or because you are trying to imitate or compete with others?
Did you administer the resources God gave you last year with focus? Your time, money, prayers, gifts and abilities?
Did you benefit others or only yourself? Did your family benefit from your focus?
In what areas of your life do you need to come to your senses?
What does “going home to my father” mean to you?
