Remember what happened to Lot’s wife

REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO LOT’S WIFE

Remember what happened to Lot’s wife! 33 If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.” (Luke 17:32-33 NLT)

What happened to Lot’s wife? She turned into a pillar of salt for having looked back.
The modern application is:
1. I shouldn’t look back to the old lifestyle I had in the past. I am a new person

2. I shouldn’t look back to the sins I committed in the past

3. I shouldn’t live ashamed of my past. I am a new person and a new life has begun.

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT)

4. I should not repeat the same mistakes, rather learn from them and use them as stepping stones, not stones to trip over

5. I should not doubt. It is necessary to put my hand on the plow with determination and not look back.

But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:62 NLT)

6. I shouldn’t want old things that hold me back and don’t let me advance. Culture, friendships, customs, TV programs, etc. This melancholy brings depression. We must cut the umbilical cord. Lot’s wife longed for something in Sodoma and maybe that is what made her look back. Abraham had to leave his relatives and he was blessed, because he did not look back

7. I shouldn’t look back because that produces fear and fear paralyzes. What would happen if I leave my comfort zone of what I know and risk a future that I do not know?

The old is the enemy of the new.
The good blocks the better.
Comfort is the enemy of success.

Clinging on to the present life means losing the opportunity of a better life.

Remember what happened to Lot’s wife! If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.” (Luke 17:32-33 NLT)

Think about it:

What has held you back from moving on to the next level?
What things or people have you held on to from the past that you need to let go of?
What changes will you make this year to receive new things from God?
