Remove the stone

REMOVE THE STONE

“Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” (John 11:39 NLT).

In other words, Jesus was saying: if you all were to try to roll the stone, then I would make sure of raising Lazarus. This means that, if you can do what’s humanly possible, I will do the impossible.

Many times, we do not see God’s responses because we do not do what we need to for God to act in our favor.

We can pray and God will answer our petitions

Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come. (Jeremiah 33:3 NLT).

We can delight in God and then he will answer the petitions of our hearts.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. (Psalm 37:4 NLT)

We can give the first of our incomes to God, and then he will bless the rest and multiply it. (Malachi 3:10; Proverbs 3:9).
We can pray and lay hands on the sick, and then God will heal them.

They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.” (Mark 16:18 NLT).

Let’s do what is possible and God will be responsible for doing the impossible. Let’s roll the stone and let God revive what was dead.

“Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. (John 11:39-41 NLT).

Think about it:

What miracle are you waiting for from God?
What part can you take in the miracle you are waiting for?
What stone do you need to remove to be able to see God’s response to your petition?
