What does all of this mean?

WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS  MEAN?

“And in the future, your children will ask you, ‘What does all this mean?’ Then you will tell them, ‘With the power of his mighty hand, the Lord brought us out of Egypt, the place of our slavery. (Exodus 13:14 NLT)

I have asked myself why God’s people had annual celebrations including first fruits, and I have come to understand that they are reminders that keep us close to God. They are an opportunity to constantly put God first in our life. They are a way of ridding us of pride and vanity by reminding us that everything we have comes from God.

It is a way of passing on our values to future generations so they can also put God first.

For example, the act of putting God first in every area helps me to depend on him and he will bless everything else. I give him the first part of my day in prayer, and he blesses the rest of the day. I give him the first of my income, and he blesses the rest. I give him the first day of the week by serving him in church on Sundays, and he blesses all the other days of the week.

…you must present all firstborn sons and firstborn male animals to the Lord, for they belong to him. (Exodus 13:12 NLT).

This ceremony will be like a mark branded on your hand or your forehead. It is a reminder that the power of the Lord’s mighty hand brought us out of Egypt.” (Exodus 13:16 NLT).

How important it is to not forget where God took us out from, what he has done in our lives and more importantly, tell it to our children.

Think about it:

Do you remember where God took you out of? What do you feel when you remember it?

Do you think the people who have distanced from God have forgotten everything he had done in their lives?

In what way do you think it helps your children when you share your testimony with them?
