PRAYER, THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND COURAGE
After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:31 NLT)
Just like the book of Acts tells us what the apostles experienced when they prayed, you and I can also experiment the same thing in our lives through prayer. Look what prayer caused in them:
1. Prayer.
Everything begins with prayer. No prayer, no power. Little prayer, little power. Much prayer, much power.
2. Filled with the Holy Spirit.
When they prayed, the meeting place shook. Today, when we pray, there is a shaking inside of us that gives us the power to make radical and important decisions in life. For example: what career to study, who to marry, how to choose your friendships wisely, etc.
We receive power when we are filled with the Holy Spirit.
3. Courage.
The Lord gives us the grace to do what we humanly cannot, and to do what we normally wouldn’t be able to do.
And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:29-31 NLT).
Think about it:
What decisions are you about to make?
Do you need courage to preach the Word of God or to begin a new project?
What have you experimented through prayer? In what way do you think prayer can help you in your daily life?
