Circumcise again

CIRCUMCISE AGAIN

At that time the Lord told Joshua, “Make flint knives and circumcise this second generation of Israelites. (Joshua 5:2 NLT)

Circumcising speaks to us of cutting.

The Bible teaches us that, today, true circumcision is that of the heart.

“Circumcising the heart” means freeing yourself of whatever thoughts or motives that were unpleasing in God’s eyes, and that desensitizes the heart.

We should constantly cut out of our hearts everything that blocks us from dying to self, everything that doesn’t let us do God’s will or reach His purpose.

We should recognize these areas of weakness in our lives, surrender them to God, and let him remove them from us, even if it hurts, that’s how he can transform us into new people.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)

Think about it:

Are you doing God’s will or your own will?
What do you know you have to do but still haven’t done it?
What attitudes, thoughts, or habits do you need to cut to achieve the will of God, that is good, pleasing, and perfect?
