IDLE, CONFIDENT, CONFORMIST, AND ISOLATED
Tell me who you’re around and I’ll tell you who you are.
We are the result of what we see, read, hear, who we are around, and the influence of the culture in which we live.
This passage speaks about a town that was attacked, sacked, and left in ashes.
What were their mistakes?
1. They were idle.
“Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
Those who do not work will lose even the little that they have and it will be given to those who have more.
2. They were overly confident.
They did not realize that there are battles in life. Today we should be aware that we have a spiritual battle. The Devil will always want to destroy families, health, ministries, careers, etc. We should live in an alert way.
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12 NLT)
3. They were conformists.
They stopped dreaming, didn’t have vision, and were conformed to the culture with no effort.
4. They didn’t have healthy relationships with people.
They didn’t work in a team, have strategic relationships, and were isolated people.
Those who don’t learn to have healthy relationships don’t conquer and are easily conquered.
To have success, it is essential to have two strong relationships: with God, and with men and women of God.
Think about it:
What kind of people do you surround yourself with?
Are you a person that prays and is alert knowing that we have a daily spiritual battle?
What are you goals and dreams?
How is your relationship with God and people?
