WHEN THE FOOLISH PASS OFF AS WISE
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. (Proverbs 17:28 NLT)
Even the foolish can seem wise when they keep their mouth shut.
When I am invited to any event or meeting, I generally listen more than I speak. I am an observant person and I like to learn from others.
When I am in a group, I try to listen and then, if necessary, contribute some words that carry a weight of wisdom to the situation.
If I do not know enough about the subject and wouldn’t be able to speak with wisdom, I’d rather stay silent.
On the other hand, I have noticed that when I speak too much, I sometimes say things I shouldn’t have or could’ve said in a better way.
With time,I have learned to practice the following: “Only respond to what they ask you and you will be more happy.”
Us humans beings have such a problem with our mouths! I have seen this verse to be true in my own experience!
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. (Proverbs 10:19 NLT)
That’s why I will be more intelligent and try to keep my mouth shut instead.
with their mouths shut, they seem intelligent. (Proverbs 17:28 NLT)
Think about it:
Have you ever regretted saying something you shouldn’t have?
Have you gotten into problems because you said something you shouldn’t have?
Do you think that listening more and speaking less could prevent you from sinning with your mouth?
