Who will be more grateful?

WHO WILL BE MORE GRATEFUL?

When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them. (Luke 7:37-38 NLT)

Theologians have come to the conclusion that the woman that anointed Jesus’ feet was a prostitute. When she realized that Jesus was there, she made way, grabbed her most expensive perfume, which symbolizes our most fine attitude and worship, and her tears fell to Jesus’ feet.

Only God knew of the burdens that woman had. Maybe she was tired of life. Jesus forgave her and her sins and there was a strong thankfulness in her.

I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.” (Luke 7:47-48 NLT)

Little forgiveness means little gratitude, but the one who has been greatly forgiven has great gratitude. Those who are only forgiven a little bit serves little, loves little, and thanks little.

There are 4 things in a grateful person:

  1. There is generosity. This person transforms into a generous person, as the woman brought her best perfume to Jesus.
  2. This person puts his gifts and abilities to God’s service happily.
  3. Kindness. She kissed Jesus’ feet.
  4. Memory. This person does not forget all the blessings he’s received. A grateful heart does not forget.

Think about it:

How much has Jesus forgiven you?
What perfume have you brought to Jesus after how much he forgave you?
In what areas can you serve God with your gifts out of gratitude?
Are you willing and available when it comes to serving God?
