Anxiety

ANXIETY

How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand?
(Psalm 13:2 NLT
)

Anxiety and anguish are common feelings in our society that is full of political instability, rumors of wars, racial groups, hatred, intolerance, lack of respect for human rights, economic instability, irritating and impatient people, etc.

David found himself wasted away. He felt that God was not answering him son enough. His enemies made him feel anxiety. In present time, the devil does the same thing, wasting us away and filling us with anxiety.

Life for the youth in school can be stressful, and married adults sometimes feel uncertain about the future of their marriage, children, or their job?

What did King David do to overcome anguish? How can we live free from anxiety?
1. David strengthened himself in prayer?
2. He persisted. He persevered.
3. He replaced his thoughts. In prayer, he ended up speaking victory and not defeat.

4. He never lost faith. He saw things like God did and prayed according to the promises of God.

Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me. (Psalm 13:3-6 NLT).

Think about it:

What situations are provoking stress and anxiety in you?
In what way do you think you can replace your thoughts and words with the Word of God?
Do you set apart a time of the day to rest in the presence of God?
