How can you lose the success you’ve achieved?

HOW CAN YOU LOSE THE SUCCESS YOU’VE ACHIEVED?

The Lord has done just as he said he would. He has torn the kingdom from you and given it to your rival, David. (1 Samuel 28:17 NLT)

The Lord took away Saul’s leadership and gave it to David.
Us human beings cannot have the mentality that what we have achieved will automatically be kept. We cannot get “comfortable” and sit under a palm tree with a coconut in hand once we achieve spiritual, family, or financial success. No! We should keep our focus on the purpose of God for my life. We should remain fresh so that we do not dry up and become irrelevant.

What attitudes cause God to take away certain privileges that he had trusted us with? What can lead a person to lose everything that took him years to achieve?

1. Disobedience to God. Saul disobeyed when he didn’t follow God’s instructions. He disobeyed by consulting a medium, and not waiting for Prophet Samuel when he offered a sacrifice and took the place of the Prophet. He took on a role that wasn’t his.

The Lord has done this to you today because you refused to carry out his fierce anger against the Amalekites.. (1 Samuel 28:18 NLT)

2. Partial obedience.

3. Rebellion.

4. Lack of self-discipline. If you are fired from your job because you don’t have self-discipline and are not organized, you cannot blame God.

5. Laziness.  Some people become comfortable and stop doing the things that brought them to the success they have achieved. The Bible says that those who do not work do not eat. (2 Thes. 3:10)

The Lord has done just as he said he would. He has torn the kingdom from you and given it to your rival, David. (1 Samuel 28:17 NLT)

Think about it:

From the five points, which do you have to work on to not lose your position?
Have you achieved success in some area and have then gotten comfortable?
What do you need to begin to do to remain focused and not become irrelevant?
