The blessing is for the family

THE BLESSING IS FOR THE FAMILY

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them! “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you.  And I will give the entire land of Canaan, where you now live as a foreigner, to you and your descendants. It will be their possession forever, and I will be their God.” (Genesis 17:1, 4, 6-8 NLT)

Our obedience blesses and reaches our children, and our descendants. However, our disobedience can rob the blessing from our children and our descendants.

What is the blessing? The blessing is the authorization to supernaturally progress, the permission from God for us to progress in everything we do despite the circumstances. Blessing is the supernatural empowerment from God to achieve what we cannot achieve in our own strengths.

What is the purpose of the blessing? It is for us to be of blessing. Now, how far does our blessing reach?

The Bible says from generation to generation. The blessing does not stay with you, rather it starts with you and goes from generation to generation, on many levels.

Sometimes we say, “Oh! God has promised me something since last year and I still haven’t received it!” Have patience. Notice, God tells Abraham to live a pure life to be able to bless him. In other words, God wants to bless us, but we must remain “blessable.”

God was telling him, I am going to bless you, but if you are faithful (pure life), the blessing with reach your children, your children’s children, and they will live like kings and queens. In other words, God will take our children beyond, they will graduate, be governors, lawyers, doctors, apostles, etc.  Maybe in the United States there is democracy and kings only exist in some countries, but what this is saying is that they will live well and be very successful.

I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them! “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. (Genesis 17:6-7 NLT)

Think about it:

In obedience to God or disobedience?
Are you leaving a legacy of blessing for your next generations?
What changes do you need to make to be of blessing and leave a blessing?
