Arrogance and anger vs. humility and patience

ARROGANCE AND ANGER VS. HUMILITY AND PATIENCE

We have heard about proud Moab—  about its pride and arrogance and rage. But all that boasting has disappeared. (Isaiah 16:6 NLT)

Pride, arrogance, and rage.
1. Everyday, we have the opportunity to touch people in our lives with either pride and arrogance, or with kindness and courtesy. We can be a deposit of anger, or of joy and optimism. We have the option, it is our decision.

2. We need to make sure that our hearts do not become full of these things that can turn us into an undesirable and toxic person in our home and job.

3. We shouldn’t allow others who act like this to affect us, because in the end their success is very fragile and temporary.

Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong. For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither. Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. (Psalm 37:1-4 NLT)

Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. Soon the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone. The lowly will possess the land and will live in peace and prosperity. (Psalm 37:7-11 NLT)

4. We need to counteract it by asking God to help us develop the Fruits of the Spirit.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. (Gal. 5:22 NLT)

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. (Matthew 5:5-7 NLT)

Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor. (Proverbs 18:12 NLT)

Think about it:

What are you depositing in the people around you? Have you guarded your heart against all pride and anger?
In what way can you contribute to changing a toxic environment in your home or place of work into a joyful environment?
