SELF-ESTEEM AND THE LIONS
Today I would like to give a personal and practical application to the lions. Let’s imagine that the lions represent the insecurities and low self-esteem that attack us human beings.
Today I heard someone speak about confidence in oneself. This person spoke about three elements that are necessary to feel confident. First, confidence in oneself. Second, confidence in one’s abilities. Third, confidence in one’s relationships with other people.
Seeing as how my life revolved around the manual of life called the Bible, I quickly identified that these concepts are things that God had told us since thousands of years, but we simply ignore them for example:
1. Confidence in oneself.
This has to do with having a sense of purpose. It has to do with faith. If I am not certain that God created me and placed me on this Earth with a specific purpose, I will never be able to feel confident in myself. I will be full of doubts, I won’t have faith, I will feel confused and insecure in this world.
2. Confidence in what I do, my abilities.
When God gives us a vision, He equips us or gives us the abilities to achieve that vision. We shouldn’t compare ourselves or be like anyone else. We just need to know how He has wired us and what abilities He has given us to compete the assignment that He has entrusted us with in this life. But we need to dare to develop our capacities. When we feel doubt, we need to remember that He gives us the grace to be and do what we humanly cannot be or do.
3. Confidence in my relationships with others.
Love is the foundation for us to feel confident in our relationships with other people. When we treat others how we would like to be treated, then we feel confident and secure in our interactions with others at work, home, school, church, etc.
Think about it:
In which of these three areas do you feel insecure? Biblically, what is the solution to improve your self-esteem? What abilities has God given you?
